I loved the hospitality of the staff; each customer is treated with exactly the same courtesy and kindness. They are very efficient and proactively helpful. The hotel is clean and well ventilated to accommodate the climate.

    Kind people

They hadn't receive my booking, and there was nobody to open the door as I arrived at 2 am, even though I warned my late arrival as I booked. But I'm afraid it wasn't a problem of the hotel, but probably yours...

Alcazar is as good the reviews say it is. I stayed 3 night in Easter Week and the staff there just performed miracles to help me sort out travel arrangements, and catch a sabbath shuttle to the airport that I failed to book on time and then initially missed and had to get come back miles to pick me up. Rooms are basic but clean -- BBC News and English movie channel. Breakfast is first rate, location good at an 8 minute walk from Old City, free Internet in office use on request, and the free mint tea in foyer in evening refreshing. If you are on a budget and think you may need a little help on your journey while in Jerusalem, then do yourself a favor and stay here. Never satyed in a more helpful hotel in almost 40 years. Biggest plus!

Solo travellers may be put off a little by walk from largely residential Palestinian area to Old City. Don't be. Friendly shops at reasonable local price along the way. I had no trouble coming to and fro on my own. Ultimately very glad I got to experience staying outside the Old City.

From cost performance point of view, this hotel is quite reasonable. It's a bit far from the old city, but 15 minutes' walk from the castle was not so big issue for me. Staff were very helpful. They kindly arranged all requests I asked perfectly.

This hotel is in Arabic part. There's a mosque very close to the hotel. They start reading Koran from 5 AM. It's a bit tough to continue sleeping with relax. Also, in case the lady travels alone, I'd suggest she just in case take a taxi when going out in the evening.

Nothing. I didnt appreciate the fact when I opened the balcony door, a guy, who later informed me he was the owner was naked, leaping for a nearby door.

Everything. Very uncomfortable. The celling in both rooms they had offered were next to non existent.

The location was hard to find when driving, however, it is located in a perfect location for visiting Jerulsalem and Bethlehem. The stafff is exceptionally accommodating, meals were terrific, travelers were international, Nadir, the owner was very helpful, Yosef, the manager was knowledgeable, friendly and personable, and Wally, the cook, was excellent. I will stay here again, and will recommend Alcazar to others.

The rooms are older, but neat, tidy and quarters were just fine for us.

The staff at Alcazar was very helpful and friendly. They even responded to an email question we had before our trip. They gave us tourist advice and a nice map for exploring Jerusalem. They recommended a nice place to eat. We were able to use their computer to check email. The breakfast had a wonderful variety of hot and cold foods. The staff arranged for a shuttle to pick us up to go to the crossing into Jordan.

The amenities in the room were rather minimal. They did have a nice portable fan but the easy chair was not comfortable. The hotel was about a mile from the Old City. We could have called a taxi but they are quite expensive. The walk was up and down some hills and sidewalks were not always easy to use. The dumpsters on the street outside the hotel are not very attractive.

Breakfast is fabulous. Joseph, who has worked there 32 years, is wonderful. Owner Nadeer very gracious.

It has all been said by others: the rooms are shabby to the max and there is no excuse for the stained carpets, sheets and blankets. The location is hard to get back to at night; you have to take a taxi.

    The brekfast only wasreasonably good

Everything beside the brekfast. The rooms are unbeliavably bad, outdated; some lights are broken; the bath tab with craks; no air condition; no tv remote; so-called parking is just on the narrow street in a very unpleasent naighborhood. I think, this hotel should be excluded from the Booked.net list for international travelers.

Very good and friendly staff, good hotel management, very good breakfast and cousine at the hotel

WiFi internet is at the lobby, no WiFi at rooms. Furniture at rooms could be renovated

people are great, and they are making the hotel work.

10-15min walk to Lions gate, close to the Al-Aqsa Mosque area. Had young children, 4-6yrs old, they didn't mind the walk to the Old City, as mainly down hill, but we needed a taxi back to the hotel, costs 25-30NIS (about 5 GBP for a 5-10min drive). The breakfast, was extensive, lots of fresh and hot foods. Overall very good value for money as generally the Old City area and prices not cheap.

Joseph in the reception was the lifeline to this hotell. We did have a nice time! But, there was no bedlamp whatsoever, the only way to read at night was to keep the terrible lightbulb up in the roof lit and then get back up and turn it off. I asked for a bedlamp twice but never got it. I also asked for a hairdryer twice, but both times it was impossible because the boss had locked it in when he went home (why?). Though, if you want to pay little and are prepaired to walk 10-15 mins through steep hills to get to the old city, this is still pretty good value for (little) money. Breakfast was outstanding, suprisingly, and Joseph even negociated the taxi deals for us, saving us about 100 nis.
